By the 18th century, the decanter had become a vital part of many in the English aristocracy. However, the main problem with the decanter was that the contents of the wine within was not necessarily known. Those around the table were in the dark because there was no identification. This was rectified by use of a “silver bottle ticket” displayed around the neck of the decanters.

Our American Sterling Silver Liquor/Decanter Labels are cast and are in a leaf form. Historically, casting was the method of choice for many famous silversmiths to create elaborate, delicate, and high-end articles. For liquor labels, the use of casting highlights the luxury and fine quality of the piece. The maker is unknown and they are pierced “SCOTCH” and “RYE”. These very attractive liquor labels allow for easy identification.

Sterling Silver Liquor/Decanter Labels have certainly come a long way in our society and no doubt will be with us for a long time to come as well!
