In the early eighteenth century, fashionable people drank punch communally straight out of the bowl. By mid-century this practice had begun to wane, and thus silver punch ladles were used to transfer punch from the bowl into individual glasses.
A striking Antique American Sterling Silver Punch Ladle. Having a shell design at the end of the slender curved handle makes this piece quite attractive in design. The hallmarks, located on the back of the handle, are quite clear and this antique American silver punch ladle is in pristine condition.
