Hyacinth vases, sometimes called tulip vases or bulb vases, were used to grow bulbs which would produce a flower indoors. This would generally occur during Winter and early Spring.
These vases were quite popular in the Victorian period and were made in a variety of different colors. Quite often, the women would also like to decorate the vases. The deep cobalt blue color, sometimes described as purple blue, is a favorite among collectors and makes the vases a striking decorative item.
Our 2 blue glass hyacinth vases are quite vibrant with their deep color. Both of these vases are designed in a classic tall churn shape and have a flared lip. These lips are often uneven which makes them very appealing. Both vases have a pontil on the exterior of the base and are hand blown in design.
