Antique Scottish Silver Basting Spoon

$750.00
  • Edinburgh, 1825 by James McKay
  • Dimensions: 12 1/4 inches length

The silver basting spoon, also known as a gravy spoon, was first introduced in the 17th century in England. However, very few pieces have survived from that era. Originally, designed for removing stuffing from roasted poultry, they are now considered an essential serving piece. A basting spoon is a versatile, large spoon that can also be used for gravy.

An Antique Georgian Scottish Silver Basting Spoon. Featuring a shell motif at the end of the handle, our basting spoon is very attractive in design. The hallmarks, located on the back of the piece, are quite clear and the basting spoon is in pristine condition.

Basting Spoons are quite practical and useful at any time of the year especially during the Holiday season!
