2 Piece Fish Sets started being produced during the 18th century, and rose to prominence during the Victorian period. This was a result of an increase in wealth in England, the demand for extravagant silverware and silversmiths who made wonderful products.

A Fish Server (Knife) is flat and wide, usually triangular and almost always trowel shaped. This was done for the passing and serving of food without touching it by hand. The flat surface of servers suggest that they were intended for use for food such as meat, cake and breads. Fish fork servers are usually larger than traditional table forks. They are also wider and longer which helps to assist with serving the fish. Often times, they feature four tines or more. Tines are the prongs of the forks.
