It is not often that silver items start a “craze” that leads to mass production of similarly shaped pottery items. However that is what happened in the late 1700s when John Schuppe, a Dutch immigrant and silversmith transplanted to London, popularized silver cow creamers. Designed especially for pouring milk or cream, cow creamers immediately became the must have item.
Our classic and vintage 20th century Sterling Silver Cow Creamer is a fine and impressive heavy-gauge silver model with well defined features. It has a loop ‘tail’ handle embellished with an ornate hinged floral flap and a practical pouring spout at the mouth. The hallmarks are stamped to the underside of the body. Produced in Germany and presumably made for Export, it is marked Sterling and was made by Israel Freeman & Son.
Cow Creamers are a practical as well as a charming addition to your tableware collection. They also make a thoughtful gift for any coffee or tea lover. It is a truly whimsical piece perfect for any breakfast table!
