The Chinese produced many different articles in porcelain. Replicas of fruit was one of the many types of porcelain which they made. These were used as offerings in their temples and were placed on the altars. Each fruit represented a different symbolic wish, such as pomegranates for fertility, peaches for immortality and living a long life, apples for harmony and good health, oranges for prosperity, and grapes for wealth and success.

A beautifully crafted Antique Chinese Export Porcelain Squash Blossom Form. As mentioned earlier, this would have been used as an altar fruit. The design of this is quite charming, both in its looks as well as its intricate details.
