An Antique English Minton Tea Cup and Saucer in the Imari design.

The term Imari is widely used to describe a style of decoration used by English Porcelain makers in the 19th and 20th centuries. Originating in Japan, this beautiful style developed in the 17th and 18th centuries and came to Britain soon after that. China then developed their own Imari design and that was sent to Britain as well as other countries. British porcelain decorators quickly adapted the Oriental Imari to their own tastes. Imari’s colors of dark blue, red/orange and gold is a lovely color combination and is exemplified on our Antique Minton Tea Cup and Saucer.

Both pieces have marks which are located on the underside of each piece.
