Pair of Old Sheffield Plate Wine Coasters

$1,250.00 for pair
  • Sheffield, circa 1825
  • Dimensions: 2 1/2 inches height, 5 1/2 inches diameter

Old Sheffield Plate has become objects d’art. When the earliest wine coasters started to appear around 1760, they were hand pierced in design. Wine Coasters were extremely popular and became one of the articles that was a forerunner to modern silver plating. The designs they used were copied from popular silverware as there was exceptional craftsmanship associated with them. Wine Coasters offer a blend of decorative artistry and functional utility, making them quite desirable for individuals as well as collectors.

Add an elegant touch to your next dining experience with this exemplary pair of Old Sheffield Plate Wine Coasters. They are decorated with exquisite hand pierced decoration. There is a wonderful grape and leaf design and wavy edges which resonate throughout them. Also, they are taller in size than the typical wine coasters of this period. Having plain oak-turned bases with silver buttons, as well as all of these other features, make them a wonderful pair to acquire.
