Pair of Antique English Oak Candlesticks

$750.00 for pair
  • England, circa 1865
  • Dimensions: 14 inches tall, 5 3/4 inches diameter

A handsome pair of Antique 19th century English Oak “Open Barley Twist” Candlesticks. The open twist design has always been quite popular and therefore, has also been used on furniture such as tables and chairs. The meticulous measuring skills that were used on these candlesticks is quite remarkable as exemplified by the curves evenly spaced. Each candlestick also features the original English brass ‘thistle’ section which is above the twisted column. The brass detail work on the bobeches as well as the thistle section, is quite intricate and enhances them. These candlesticks have drip trays which were used to help catch the dripping wax.

Oak Candlesticks add to any decor and look lovely no matter where they are placed. With their elegant lines and the contrast of brass and the dark oak, this pair of Antique 19th century English Oak Candlesticks which have felt bottoms, will bring a touch of elegance to any room, perhaps anchoring a commode, side table or credenza.
