The Adams style, sometimes referred to as the Classic period, emerged in the mid-1700s. Previously, Rococo silver pieces were extremely ornate, extravagant and elaborate and thus, were quite popular. However, styles change and people wanted a simpler look. Thus, the subtle and classical influence of the Adam’s style became quite popular immediately.
A striking and elegant Antique George III English Silver Salver residing on three ball and claw feet. Having a shaped beaded edge and a circular form, this salver has a coat of arms in the center and a lovely antique patina. Made by Richard Rugg, who was a silver salver specialist in the 18th century, the hallmarks located on the back of the piece are quite clear and visible to the naked eye. Please note that there are several small dents that reside on this piece.
