  • China, circa 1780
  • Dimensions: 3 inches high, 7 inches from tip of spout to end of handle

A wonderful and exquisite Antique 18th century Chinese Export Porcelain Armorial Sauce Boat. An abundance of gilt painting is used quite often throughout this piece. A wide border of a wonderful shade of raspberry colored grapes accompanied with gilt leaves is at the top of the sauce boat. This decoration is quite vibrant with its wonderful tones and runs along the top of the entire sauce boat. There is a thin line of gilt both at the top and the bottom of the border which helps define it. There is a set of initials featured underneath the spout which is encompassed in a heart and this is surrounded by large gilt swirls. Green leaves are intertwined in these swirls. Above the heart design is an eagle’s head with a sprig of leaves extending from his mouth. To complete this very attractive 18th century Sauce Boat is an intertwined wide handle which is decorated in gilt. The handle is attached to the sauce boat with 4 large clusters of flowers which are also hand painted in gilt.
