A wonderful example of an early antique 19th century Chinese Rose Mandarin Vase. The painting on this piece is exceptional – both in pictorial scenes of people as well as floral and fauna. One panel depicts a scene of several men and women conversing in a courtyard. Above this scene are two men in conversation with each other. The panel of floral and fauna includes butterflies, birds, flowers and fruits including pomegranates as well as berries. Birds and butterflies are in flight while others are residing on leaves and branches. Wrapping around the vase are two wonderfully raised dragons which are quite elaborate with their gilt decoration. Separating these scenes are the often used colors green, pink, orange and gilt painting which is indicative of antique Chinese Rose Mandarin porcelain. Greens, blues, yellows and blacks are also used extensively on this piece. This vase is a superb example of Rose Mandarin as it shows workmanship of the highest caliber. With all these jewel tones used extensively throughout this piece, this vase would look beautiful in any setting.
