In the late 19th century, sets of flatware with Mother of Pearl handles became popular and they are often found in their original boxes. Cutlery handles made from real Mother of Pearl shell occasionally have a slight variation in grain and size. However, that does not alter their appeal at all. Mother of Pearl always looks quite beautiful and elegant in any setting and therefore, is always in demand.

This is an exquisite antique Victorian Silver Plate and Mother of Pearl Dessert Set. It is quite extensive as it consists of the following pieces – 12 forks, 12 knives, pair of serving spoons, pair of grape scissors, 2 pairs of nutcrackers and a matching pair of picks. The forks have 4 tines. Both the forks and the knives are embellished with fine and impressive bright cut engraved foliate decoration. Also, the case is quite special as there is carved detail work that is located on the outside lid. This antique Victorian Silver Plate and Mother of Pearl Dessert Set is in excellent condition. This set is quite appealing, functional and lovely to own.
