Antique Victorian Plate Grape Shears

$295.00
  • Sheffield, circa 1900
  • Dimensions: 7 inches length

First seen in Britain during the Regency period, grape shears were specifically used to trim grapes from their bunches. They were popular pieces of flatware throughout the 19th century when correct dining etiquette was an important indicator of social standing. Grape Shears always take a scissor form, but they vary considerably in design from the plain and simple to the very ornate.

A lovely pair of Antique Victorian Plate Grape Scissors. The detail work on them is exceptional with floral and filigree decoration.

It has always been said that grapes tasted better when they were cut from the bunch using a pair of grape scissors. We concur with this way of thinking.
